thursdays in leytonstone
So I have a question for people... can anybody tell me why it is that all doctors in leytonstone seem to be shut on thursday afternoons? I could understand maybe being shut one afternoon and being open on saturday mornings or something but 4 different doctor's surgeries were shut this afternoon and not one was found that was open... any suggestions on why thursday afternoons?

Most villages used to have one day a week they all shut early, I know where I was brought up it was a Wednesday, but seriously I didn't expect doctors to do it. Also I the only place I've seen early closing days documented was on canal boat maps to tell you which village will give you food.

But erm isn't leytonstone a district in London?

In reverse order yes, a suburb of london. Or district. Or whatever...and yeah, I remember when I was younger early closing on wednesdays but I thought that was always wednesday rather than a randomly chosen afternoon...

Going by the map I last looked at they try to no close early in neighbouring towns, I assume so you can go to the other if you need to.

Leytonstone, twinned with Beirut for sunny outlooks and tourist attraction. I have to say I'm quietly amazed you found 4 surgeries at all, most medical practitioners keep as far away as physically possible from the hell that is Whipps Cross and all the issues that ensue from being Britain's shittest ever hospital.

I live just round the corner from Leytonstone and by Whipps cross hospital, their GP in A&E is actually usually pretty reasonable but if you don't want to chance that there's a doctor's surgery about 100 yards down the road (lea bridge road) called the Ecclesbourne Clinic - that's my doctors and i'm pretty certain they're open on Thursday afternoons (just for future reference).

No idea, but I can ask the local councillors if they know why...

Oh, and what're you doing in Sunny Leytonstone? You should have said and we might have been able to meet up.
